ACM India Council Awards

In a move to honor exceptional technical and professional contributions to computing in India, the ACM India Council introduced three esteemed annual awards in 2020:

  • ACM India Early Career Researcher (ECR) Award: This award recognizes individuals in the early stages of their career who have made significant contributions to computing, while primarily working in India. Sponsored by Persistent Foundation, the award includes a prize of ₹15 lakhs.
  • ACM India Outstanding Contributions in Computing by a Woman (OCCW) Award: Aimed at recognizing women professionals excelling in computing and empowering women in this field, the OCCW award is supported by Google and offers a prize of ₹7 lakhs.
  • ACM India Outstanding Contribution to Computing Education (OCCE) Award: This award is designed to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to computing education while primarily based in India. It is sponsored by Microsoft Research India and carries a prize of ₹7 lakhs.

The following award is a new award instituted in 2025 and is sponsored by Zoho Corporation.

  • The ACM India Outstanding Applied Innovation in Computing (OAIC) Award: This award recognizes the organizations that showcase remarkable innovation driven by computing in any field, targeting either commercial or non-profit objectives. Annually, one winner and up to two honorable mentions are chosen. The award carries a prize money of INR 5 lakhs for the winner, and INR 2 lakhs for the honorable mentions. 

Winners for each award will be selected by a distinguished international jury, and the winners are honored at the ACM India Annual Event usually held in the month of February. For more information on timelines, eligibility, and the nomination process, visit the respective award pages.

ACM India Doctoral Dissertation Award

The ACM India Best Doctoral Dissertation Award was introduced in 2011 with approval from the ACM Awards Committee. This award celebrates the best doctoral dissertations in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian institutions for each academic year. The award includes a prize of ₹2,00,000, with an honorable mention prize of ₹1,00,000, if applicable. The dissertations will be published in the ACM Digital Library. Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS) is the founding sponsor of this award. ACM India Student Chapter Awards

ACM India Student Chapter Awards

The ACM India Student Chapter Awards recognize outstanding performance in six categories. Each category winner receives ₹40,000, except for the Outstanding Chapter Overall, which carries a prize of ₹1,00,000.

The categories include:

  • Outstanding Website
  • Outstanding Activities
  • Outstanding Community Service
  • Outstanding Recruitment Program
  • Emerging Chapter
  • Outstanding Chapter Overall

An honorable mention may be awarded in each category. Communications will be sent to all the active members about the nomination procedure, a month before the nomination deadline. 

The Microsoft CMT service was used for managing the peer-reviewing process for this conference. This service was provided for free by Microsoft and they bore all expenses, including costs for Azure cloud services as well as for software development and support.
